DATES AND SITES: 1A - October 24 (or Friday, October 23 if both heads of schools agree), 27at home of higher seed, 30 & 31, 2009 at the Wilson Gillette Complex. 2A – October 24 (or Friday, October 23 if both heads of schools agree), 27at home of higher seed, 30 & 31, 2009 at Westchester Country Day School. 3A - October 24 (or Friday, October 23 if both heads of schools agree), 27at home of higher seed, 30 & 31, 2009 at North Raleigh Christian Academy.
GENERAL TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES: See pp. 33-36.
1A/2A/3A Each member school must play a minimum of 4 contests on 4 separate dates to be eligible to participate in state play-off competition. Each NCISAA conference with four or more participating schools in a specific classification will receive an automatic bid. The remaining tournament teams will be selected at large by the seeding committee - who will also seed the tournament - on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Greensboro Day School. 1A schools playing in a mixed classification conference will be eligible for selection to the 1A tournament. 2A schools playing in a mixed classification conference will be eligible for selection to the 2A tournament.
First and second round games will be played at the site of the higher seed. In all tournament games, the higher seed will be the home team. Yellow card counts will be reset to zero before the state play-offs. Any player who receives three yellow cards in the play-offs will be suspended for one match; five yellow cards will equal an ejection effective for the remainder of the post-season play. In addition, the player will be suspended from the next NCISAA sanctioned event in any sport.
MERCY RULE. Any time during an NCISAA regular season or tournament soccer match, if one team is five or more goals ahead, the clock will continue to run except for injury time-outs.
GAME SUSPENSION: The game is considered complete at the half, and the winner will be declared according to the team winning at that time.
TIES: 1. two ten minute overtimes 2. two five minute sudden victory overtimes 3. Penalty kicks administered according to National Federation rules 4. In all tie games, a coin toss will determine the choice of the ball at the start of each overtime period.
OFFICIALS: Officials will be state certified.
GAME BALLS: When not provided by a sponsor, game balls should be furnished by the home team.
ADMISSION: Unless otherwise specified, admission for NCISAA play-off events is $7.00 per adult and $5.00 per NCISAA student. Children under the age of eight will be admitted free. 100% of gate receipts, after approved expenses, are due the NCISAA.
