2A - May 12, 15 and 16, 2009 at Northside Christian Academy

 

3A - May 12, 15 and 16, 2009 at Wesleyan Christian Academy

 

NOTE:  First round play-off games scheduled for Saturday may be moved to Friday if the heads of both schools agree to the change.

 

SEEDING DEADLINE 1A/2A/3A

May 8, 2009

 

 

GENERAL TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES:              See page 29.

 

1A/2A/3A SEEDING.   Each member school must play a minimum of 4 contests on 4 separate dates to be eligible to participate in state play-off competition.  Each NCISAA conference with four or more participating schools in a specific classification will receive an automatic bid.  The remaining tournament teams will be selected at large by the seeding committee - who will also seed the 8 or 12 team tournaments - on Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Greensboro Day School.  1A schools playing in a 2A or 3A conference will be eligible for selection to the 1A tournament.   2A schools playing in a 1A or 3A conference will be eligible for selection to the 2A tournament.  3A schools playing in a 1A/2A conference will be eligible for selection to the 3A tournament.  The All-State selection committee will meet prior to the seeding committee.

 

For 1A/2A, the first round will be played at the home of the higher seed on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.  The final four teams will play a double elimination tournament on Friday and Saturday, May 15 & 16, 2009.   The higher seed will be the home team.  The home team in the championship round will be the team that is undefeated.  If the third game is necessary, the higher seed will be the home team.

 

For 3A, a 12 team seeded tournament will be played with the top four seeds receiving the first round bye.  The first and second round games will be played at the home of the top four seeds on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.  The rest of the tournament will be double elimination played on Friday and Saturday, May 15 & 16, 2009.  The higher seed will be the home team. The home team in the championship round will be the team that is undefeated.  If the third game is necessary, the higher seed will be the home team.

RULES:   National High School Federation rules will be followed including approved helmets..  The higher seeded team shall be the home team in all games.  Rained out games must be played on the next available playing date and will be resumed at the point of interruption.  The ten run rule should be employed after five innings. 

 

GAME BALLS:   A Wilson optic yellow 47 12" restricted flight red stitch ball will be used.  Other necessary equipment will be furnished by the home team.

 

OFFICIALS:      The officials will be state certified.

 

ADMISSION:   Unless otherwise specified, admission for NCISAA play-off events is $7.00 per adult and $5.00 per NCISAA student.  Children under the age of eight will be admitted free.  100% of gate receipts, after approved expenses, are due the NCISAA.
