NCISAA Membership Information

Schools desiring NCISAA membership must satisfy the following membership standards.

1. Have an enrollment of 50 students in grades 9 and above (25 for single gender schools) and/or 75 students in grades 7 and above (37 in single gender schools). Once approved for NCISAA membership all members are required to maintain these enrollment standards. Any school attaining membership since the year 2004-2005 who fails to meet at least one of the requirements when submitting their annual enrollment numbers for the school year will be place don probation for one year. If the same school fails to meet at least one of the requirements the following year their NCISAA membership will be revoked.

2. A school must field a varsity team for the entire season in at least one sport for each gender in each of the three sport seasons. Schools accepted for single sport participation, i.e., football are exempt from this requirement. Any school failing to meet this requirement will be placed on a one year probation. If they are unable to meet the minimum requirement the following year NCISAA membership will be revoked.

3. Obtain provisional membership in a recognized NCISAA conference. On rare occasions a school without conference affiliation may be granted NCISAA membership. Reasons for exceptions must be extremely compelling and must be approved by the Appeals Committee.

4. Schools approved by the Board of Managers are accepted initially for a one year provisional membership and will be reviewed for continued membership by the Board of Managers at the next summer meeting.

ANNUAL FEES

Regular membership fees for the 2009-2010 school year are $1,500.00 per school plus $5.00 per student in grades 9 through 12. Member schools are expected to satisfy the $5 per capita fee for students enrolling after September 15.

Single Sport Schools pay the basic fee of $1,500.00 plus $5 for each student participating on the varsity team of that sport.

LATE PENALTIES

ATTENTION ALL SCHOOLS: Fees, membership information, financial aid statements and enrollment rosters must be postmarked no later than September 15, 2009 in order to avoid a LATE PENALTY of $25 per day until the required information has been received by the NCISAA office. Schools who remain delinquent may be subject to expulsion from the NCISAA for the academic year. All required forms may be found in the Appendix in the back of your Handbook.
