1A/2A/3A BOYS AND GIRLS TENNIS RULES AND GUIDELINES
for REGULAR SEASON
1. Each coach is obligated to see that his/her team line-up represents the comparative strength of the players in both singles and doubles. For example, the #1 player or team is stronger than #2; #2 is stronger than #3, etc. FOR 1A/2A ONLY, In doubles, the position paired at #1 position (e.g., #1 and #3=4) must add up to an equal or lower number than those paired at the #2 position (e.g., #2 and #4=6 and the same for the #3 pair.)A #1 singles player cannot play in the #3 doubles position. Any player not in the top six will be considered a #7 player for doubles placement purposes. A coach is permitted to substitute for a player in the doubles as long as it is a lower ranked player not already in the doubles lineup. The doubles team with the substituted player is NOT subject to the doubles pairing regulation.
2. If a player in the starting line-up misses a match for any reason, all players below that player must move up in order to fairly represent the strength of the team on that particular day. Coaches are expected to exchange dual match lineups simultaneously.
3. A hard court will be used whenever possible.
4. Coaching is allowed during the changeover and if the sets split. The officially named coach is an agent of the school unless a substitute is named by the Director of Athletics prior to the match.
