DATES AND SITES

1A:   The first rounds will be played at the site of the higher seed on Friday, May 11, 2012 (or Saturday, May 12 if both heads of schools agree) and on May 15.  The final four teams will advance to Faith Christian School on May 18 and 19, 2012.

 

 2A:  The first rounds will be played at the site of the higher seed on Friday, May 11, 2012 (or Saturday, May 12 if both heads of schools agree) and on May 15. The final four teams will advance to Caldwell Academy on May 18 and 19, 2012.

 

3A:  
Tournament Dates
:  5/12 and 5/15 at high seed
Final-Four:  5/18, 19 at Durham Academy

Semi-final game times – Friday, 5/18
2:00pm and 4:30pm (highest seed will play the 2:00 semi-final and high seeds wear white)
Championship game time – Saturday, 5/19
12:00 noon.  (highest seed wears white)

SEEDING:   Deadline for 1A/2A/3A - Wednesday, May 9, 2012

GENERAL TOURNAMENT GUIDELINES: See RULES/REGULATIONS page

ENTRIES:  For 1A and 3A, 12 teams will qualify for the state tournament.  For 2A, 16 teams will qualify for the state tournament.  In each division a member school must play a minimum of 4 contests on 4 separate dates to be eligible to participate in state playoff competition.  Each NCISAA conference with four or more participating schools in a specific classification will receive an automatic bid.  The remaining tournament teams will be selected at large by the seeding committee -who will also seed the tournament - on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Greensboro Day School.  1A schools playing in a 2A conference will be eligible for selection to the 1A tournament and 2A schools playing in 1A or 3A conferences will be eligible for selection to the 2A tournament.  First and second round games will be played at the site of the higher seed.  The All State Selection Committee will meet prior to the Seeding Committee.

RULES:  Unless otherwise specified, National High School Federation rules will be followed.  

MERCY RULE.  Any time during an NCISAA regular season or tournament soccer match, if one team is five or more goals ahead, the clock will continue to run except for injury time-outs.

GAME SUSPENSION:   The game is considered complete at the half, and the winner will be declared according to the team winning at that time. 

 

TIES:  

1.  Two ten minute overtimes
2.  Two five minute sudden victory overtimes
3.  Penalty kicks administered according to National Federation rules
4.  In all tie games, a coin toss will determine the choice of the ball at the start of each overtime period.

OFFICIALS: Officials will be state certified.

ADMISSION:   $7.00 for each game, $5.00 for NCISAA school students
