VENUE:

The Greensboro Aquatics Center is a 50 meter pool which can be broken into two short course venues with a separate diving well.  This competition will use a 10 lane short course competition venue with continuous warm-up and cool down lanes available throughout the meet.  The pool depth is 9’-10’ at the start and turn ends and 4” lane lines will be used to reduce turbulence.  The lane width is 7’.  A Colorado Timing System 6 with a Daktronics Pro-Star LED Video Scoreboard Display will display results simultaneously. Starting platforms are Colorado Competition deck anchored platforms. 

No outside Food or Drink will be permitted.
No Chairs are permitted. There is seating capacity for 1850 spectators in the Grandstand. There are 650 bleacher seats on deck that are reserved for athletes only.
No spectators/parents are allowed on the pool deck.

VENUE SHOPS:
KAST-A-WAY Swim wear is located near the main entrance.
Food and drink may be purchased from various Food Carts located throughout the venue.

RULES:
Unless otherwise specified, National High School Federation rules will be followed.



ELIGIBILITY:

Each competitor will be permitted to enter a maximum of 2 individual and/or 2 relay events if he or she has met the minimum qualification times in a regular season meet during the current year.  Each team may enter an unlimited number of entries in individual events as long as they meet the NCISAA qualifying standards.  Only four (4) swimmers from any one team will be allowed to score in an event. Only one relay entry from each school per relay event (there are no relay qualifying standards).
A team will consist of one or more participants.  Each team, team member, and individual entry must compete in a minimum of four (4) regular season meets in order to qualify for the state meet.



FORMAT:
There will be twenty-two events as set forth in the Order of Events below. All events are Pre-Seeded Timed Finals.

SEEDING:
All events will be seeded slowest to fastest.

ENTRIES/ENTRY DEADLINE:
Please note the following guidelines for entries:

  • Submit all entries in a Hy-Tek Meet Manager compatible file to lyta@badwolf-us.com . A confirmation email will be returned when they have been received.
  • IMPORTANT: Relay entries are required to be submitted along with individual entries. Please include names of four (4) swimmers along with a seed time. Revisions and updates to any and all relay entries may be made on the day of the meet.

 

Entry Deadline is midnightMonday February 13th.

  • A Psych Sheet will be emailed to each team on Tuesday, February 14th. Changes will be accepted by email to lyta@badwolf-us.com  up until Midnight on Thursday, February 16th at which time all entries become final with no further changes accepted.

RELAYS:
Only one relay entry from each school per relay event (there are no relay qualifying standards). Relay entries must be submitted along with individual entries on Monday February 15th and should include names of four (4) swimmers and a seed time. Revisions and updates to any and all relay entries may be made on the day of the meet.



SCORING:
Individual Events scored 16 places with points awarded as follows:  20,17,16,15,14,13,12,11,9,7,6,5,4,3,2,1

Relay Events  scored 16 places with points awarded as follows:
40, 34,32,30,28,26,24,22,18,14,12,10,4,6,4,2




SCRATCHES:
Any swimmer who fails to show for an event will be scratched from the meet(NFHS Rule 3.2.2). A scratch meeting will be called by the referee and held during or after warm-up. Contestants’ events may not be changed. A scratched contestant is scratched for the entire meet. Contestants may be scratched only if they are ill or injured. A doctor’s note or verification by the coach must accompany each respective situation at the scratch meeting. At this time, an eligible contestant (someone already on the team roster who is not entered in a full complement of events) may be substituted. Swimmers may not be moved from one event to another to fill the scratch opening. No changes will be permitted after the scratch meeting.

Competition Pool: The Greensboro Aquatic Center is a state‐of‐the‐art indoor facility with three pools which opened in August 2011. The main competition pool is 9‐10 feet deep at both ends and can be configured into two 25‐yard courses with up to ten 7‐foot wide lanes each. All lanes feature non‐turbulent lane lines and Colorado starting blocks.  8 lanes will be used for this competition. The Colorado electronic timing system will be used.


Spectator Seating: The seating area is above the deck and designed for comfort and enjoyment for spectators. There is viewing for 1,850 people, bench seating with back support.

Safety: Coaches are reminded to closely supervise their swimmers at all times. Failure to comply with safety requests can result in expulsion from the meet. Michelle Piette, Head Athletic Trainer or Christina Frazer, Assistant Athletic Trainer from Ravenscroft will be available to assist with treatments, injuries, or other requests from coaches/athletes.

Facility Rules: Please inform all families of the following pool rules.
1) NO smoking is allowed inside the facility.
2) NO outside food, drink, or coolers allowed inside the gallery facility.
Teams/athletes may bring coolers for water. GAC does not provide ice.
3) NO glass containers allowed inside the facility.
4) NO chairs allowed in the spectator level or on the pool deck.

Meet Format: NCISAA 3A State Championships—prelims and finals meet.

  • All individual events are prelim and final events with the exception of the 500 Free. 500 Free will be timed final events in the PRELIM session with the exception of the fastest 8 seeded swimmers male and female (8 males, 8 females) who swim in FINALS.
  • All relays will swim in the finals sessions as timed final events.

Eligibility: The meet is open to all Seventh through Twelfth Grade swimmers who belong to North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A schools and have competed in at least 4 regular season meets. All swimmers must have met or surpassed the NCISAA 3A Qualifying Time Standards in the events entered.

Rules: The meet will be conducted in accordance with the 2011-2012 National Federation of State High School Association’s Official Swimming and Diving Rules with the following exception: 1) No 1 Meter Diving.

Entry Limit: As per NCISAA guidelines published in the NCISAA Handbook

  • each team may enter an unlimited amount of entries in individual events as long as they meet the NCISAA 3A meet-qualifying standard, but only four swimmers from any one team will be allowed to swim and score in finals for the events entered.
  • only 1 relay team per relay event—enter relay seed times only; names are declared at the meet.
  • a competitor will be allowed to enter a maximum of 2 individual and 2 relay events or 1 individual and 3 relays. Proof of time, date, and opponent will be required for all 500 Freestyle swims.
  • a maximum of four participants from one team are eligible to score points in one event.  Prelims will determine those eligible—no exhibition swims.

Entries: A swim team management program such as Hy-Tek Team Manager or EasyTeam Manager must do entries. The Hy-Tek TM II Lite program can be downloaded for free at (www.hy‑tekltd.com/downloads.html).

  

Directions are included below.  Show grades 7 & 8 as a number 07 or 08; names for Fresh, Soph, Jr and Sr. Use best yard times achieved.  All events will be pre-seeded.  Please alert the Meet Director or Meet Referee of any scratches upon arrival to the meet.  The meet PSYCH SHEET and, later, live results will be available through the TAC website, (http://www.triangleaquatics.org/Events/EventResults/).

Entry Deadline: Tuesday, February 14, 2012—is firm. Entries must be submitted via e-mail in a file generated by Hy-Tek Team Manager to Entry Coordinator, Kate Walker, gsaswimbiz@gsaswim.org – NO fax entries will be accepted.
